MAK Home - 309 Adams

Throughout the years, 309 Adams has maintained the “dignified lines” and “individual appearance” that Ms. Wilburn intended.

Despite the best intentions of its previous owners, 309 Adams suffered many changes, including the addition of vinyl siding and layers of paint on the interior wood trim, door hardware and light fixtures. Even with the changes, however, the original floor plan and exterior remained substantially intact.  In 2005, the current owners, desiring to restore the home’s historic character, sought to renovate the home to refurbish its original, charming features and expand its living spaces for modern family living.

Currently, 309 Adams displays much of its original charm, including beautiful heart-of-pine flooring with inlaid details, original lighting and door hardware, restored wood trim and six fireplaces with original tiles.

The renovation also included the expansion of the first story with the addition of an enlarged, modern kitchen and adjacent family room.  The second story was expanded to include space for a master suite and renovated to provide an additional bathroom.

With renovations, the home’s original floor plan suits the needs of its modern family.  As always, the front porch serves as a welcoming and gathering spot for the homeowners.

309 Adams is now a 4-bedroom, 3½-bath house with 3,200 square feet of living space.
